Executive Admin, Part-time


$20/hr; 20 hours/week
Refoundry is seeking a part-time Executive Admin ASAP to assist our small leadership team in all aspects of operations and planning. We currently operate out of Park Slope (office) and the Brooklyn Navy Yard (shop).

This is a rare opportunity to be involved in the early days of an innovative criminal justice organization that is creating opportunities for people coming home from prison to find living-wage jobs and sustainable economic opportunity through craft and entrepreneurship. Specifically, Refoundry trains formerly incarcerated people to repurpose discarded materials into home furnishings and mentors them into their own business and/or career track. As part of the curriculum, we provide transitional services, life skills training, financial education, and business principles.

This position will provide growth opportunities for the right candidate, as well as the chance to interact not just with the Executive team and Refoundry entrepreneurs, but also with criminal justice reform advocates and policymakers.


The role

You will work closely with Executive Director and key volunteers in the following areas:

• calendar management for in-demand Executive Director
• Other administrative activities, as needed

• Managing expenses/income in accounting software (Quickbooks); helping prep for tax filings
• Regular tracking and reporting on donations

• Help with foundation and individual donor research and outreach
• Assistance in crafting fundraising materials
• Editing and writing letters of interest
• Soliciting in-kind donors (equipment, materials)

Marketing and Sales
• Help with social media activity
• Research/identify other criminal justice reform conferences or events we should attend or know about
• Asset library organization and management
• Work with Jr Board on micro-donation strategies (point of purchase, events, tshirts, fleas, etc)
• help with research on retail channels
• sourcing/negotiating refoundry-branded products (eg, tshirts)

Event/Community Engagement Programs
• Coordination of community-based art project with partners like Shake Shack
• Event logistics for a Q1-Q2 fundraising events (3-5 events)

The right candidate is:

• Self-starter who can juggle multiple projects at once
• Computer literate
• Familiar w/social media platforms
• Savvy researcher (internet)
• Strong (written) communicator
• Highly organized, and excited about the prospect of bringing their methods to bear on the day-to-day functioning of our organization
• Interested in criminal/social justice

(Criminal justice involvement not required, but a plus)
